Arup is a professional service firm specialising in engineering, design, planning, and project management and consulting services for the built environment. Arup is a global firm, present in Africa, North and South America, Australasia, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. It has nearly 10,000 staff based in 92 offices spread over 35 countries with its headquarters situated in London, UK.

Strengths * No shareholders, instead the company is made of trustees * Global company – Arup has offices in 37 countries, with projects been carried out in 190 countries [19] * Small workforce of 10,000 – large profits can mean large bonuses for all employees [19] * Variety – grand and small scale projects in developing and developed parts of the world. The sports division is a specific part of the company that deals in sports arenas, stadiums and venues with designs being completely different to ordinary venues [20] * Recruitment – Arup recruits over 100 postgraduates every year, younger engineers perhaps have the capability to come up with new and innovative ideas for a project where an older engineer would not think of such ideas. * Innovation –new and intricate designs that are aesthetically pleasing will draw in new investors and buyers. [20] * Arup being a well known engineering company means that customers are more likely to go to Arup for new engineering design and construction projects * The construction force is hired, this means that their wages are set by their contracts and do not include bonuses when profits are shared between the
