“To understand the most commonly used personality instruments in counseling, it is probably valuable to have some foundational information regarding the standard methods used in constructing personality inventories” (Whiston, 2009). In applying the results to the client, as a clinical therapist he would provide a detailed breakdown of the various categories so that there is no confusion but yet provide a clear understanding of what each part of the assessment results represent. Since the (CRI) is broken down into five categories, it can assist the client in handling stress and help individuals develop coping mechanisms that will provide positive relief.
Before administering the assessment to the client, it would be beneficial to identify the assessment tool, its purpose and what each category represents. It is most beneficial to break down each category as it relates to cognitive, social, emotional, spiritual and physical as a means of identifying what each area of the assessment represents. It is also important to inform the client on how the results will be measured and utilized to determine how such measurements can be applied into a treatment plan.
After the assessment is completed, the COPE would be discussed with the client in detail by providing information to help the client gain a better understanding of the areas which comprise the (CRI)
