| There are many issues that come from dependency on modern media especially in the younger age groups; here are my top three as follows. Social media such as Facebook, texting, and instant messengers are great to keep families that are long distances away together, but there is also a negative side. While you can keep in touch with Aunt Peggy in Alabama and your daughter can keep in touch with her friends over the summer that are away on vacation the communication in many households suffer. It is already difficult for many teens to talk with their parents, now their social skills are lacking even more. The youth of this age are having a difficult time with face to face social interaction more so then ever. This doesn’t end with family communication either, it spreads to school and later on when they go to get a job and so forth. Another issue with these different types of digital communication go to writing skills. With texting becoming the more popular form of communication VS the telephone of course there is a faster and easier way to write out all of that text in shorter version. There are abbreviations for everything and its moving from technology to real world applications. The line between social media and “the real world” are becoming blurred and in some individuals minds there is no difference between a social media application like Facebook and a job application to start a career.
