These different qualities include length, shape, size, type of tip, etc. The braid is loaded into the machine, where either the fused or acetate tip is placed on and then the braid is cut into the separate shoelaces or webbings specific to fulfilling the order. Once the tipping process is completed, the finished product is moved to the shipping area. In order for the braiding division to be able to continuously grow with the company, a material handling system and a sequencing scheduling system need to be introduced.

Project Plan
Problem Definition/Deliverables The objective is a multi-step plan that will improve the braiding division as a whole and make it much more profitable for the company. In order to do this, it is necessary to create a new material handling system and scheduling algorithm for the tipping machines. Due to the fact that there is nothing tangible in place to determine which braid goes to which tipping machine and in what order, a scheduling system is essential to growing the braiding department. The first step is to understand the difference between product families and the complete process each product family goes through. The different product families are elastic, cut and shear, spools, acetate tips, and fused tips. Then, there needs to be a way to make the work flow of each product family more organized in order to make it more collective and
