Classical Charter is an amazing school for any child to go to. With only fifty students per grade, your child would get to know everyone in their class. Twenty five students are in each classroom and must learn music, art and gym. Elementary students begin basic spanish in kindergarten, which is really helpful in high school. There are three receses with adults watching over the students. Lunch time is split up into groups: K-3, 4-6, and 7-8. Receses are split up as well. Discipline is not standing against a wall, but rather, we have cardflips. A yellow card is five minutes off recess time, a red is 10 minutes, and a blue is the whole recess with a call home. The middle schoolers and sixth graders have their own wing, but are never in each others presence during school hours. The eight graders learn the equivilant of spanish 3 during high school. But the real reason I love Classical is the curriculum. Students learn math, grammar, and reading levels higher than in other elementary schools. For example, we use Shirley Grammar, Saxon math, and read books, poems, plays, ect. However, if your student is not up to homework, then this school may not be for him/her. But if you aren't worried about a hour or two of homework at night, there is no reason you shouldn't choose Classical school for your child. The experiences your child has there will lead to better experiences in high school and college. I read Animal Farm in eighth grade, which I read again for Civics freshman year. I also read Midsummer's Night Dream by Shakespeare in middle school, which is a book commonly read in college courses. I guarrantee your student will not be unhappy with Classical Charter. GO PEGASUS!
