I am a concerned parent of a kindergardener and 1st grader at Capon Bridge Elementary School. I haven't had any problems with the school itself, but I'm very upset with the bus scheduling. My children catch the bus @ 6:50AM which should be changed to 7:15AM as of Monday. I don't understand why my children have to get up this early at such a young age to get a ride to school when another bus comes later. (7:30AM was the origional pick up time) on this other bus which in my opinion should transport all of the grade school children. I received a note from my childs teacher telling me that my child is falling asleep in class. She goes to bed between 8:30-9pm every night, which is more than the 8hrs minimum that doctors suggest. I get them up as late as I can and they get there just about the time the bus is pulling out. I am outraged that the board of education is allowing this to happen to our children. Then its the parent who gets blamed for children not getting good grades. I make sure they are bathed and teeth brushed the night before and they only have to get dresssed comb there hair and eat breakfast before leaving. Still they are tired when they get home. Can someone please tell me why my children are leaving at 6:50AM and getting home at 4:15 when they only have to travel 8 miles to get to school. I know there are other parents with the same concern who have called bus garage and all were told buses are full we can't do anything. They can, the schedule has been altered to a later time which will start Monday!!!! Still if they got another bus driver they could make it so our children did not have to be on the buses as long as they are.... Grade school children should not have to be subject to this, and they shouldn't have to miss out on there education because they are too tired to think or fall asleep at school because the have to catch the bus at such an early hour. I live on the bus route and I should not have to drive my children to school because of the bus schedule being this way it is unfair to the children and the parents. Stop trying to save money....Save our childrens education!!!!!!
