The dual language program will be an asset to the community. I cannot help but write a response to the comment I see posted about the feeling about the Dual Language program being started too young, at age five. All science and literature on multilingualism emphasizes that the earlier another language is acquired, the better it is learned. It also states it makes children smarter and better able to learn other subjects.
Perhaps, the parent who wrote the uninformed commentary would have a better grasp of the English language and better basic grammar such as commas where needed and use of "to" when she really means "too" had that parent, herself been exposed to a second language.
The Dual Language program is a gift to the community and the Lewis and Clark school should be commended for starting it.

I dont agree with the Dual language becoming Manditory starting this fall starting with the Kindergarten classes. Every principle states that we as parents should come to the schools to see if we feel that school is right for our child but yet Lewis n clark is taking away a big choice away from is parents and students. In my opinion Dual Language is set up to early for 5yr olds. As parents we know our child the best and we should have a CHOICE to let our kids participate in Dual language or not. I Love how the Principle likes to use the "Forced and Forces" the kids to interact with each other. Who ours kids want and dont want to talk to should be there individual choice. Save the Dual language for middle school. I agree with the concept of dual language but i dont agree on it being Forced at such a young age.
School is not fully fenced and if you live within 1 mile of this school your kid walks(IN WET SNOW AND COLD) or you have to provide transportation, wether you have only 1 car that your spouse uses or not and if you just dont know anyone in the area well enough to ask for help. In my opinion i believe the district should work with those families that just cant provide the kids transportation. No they told me that my 5 yr old needs to find an older kid to walk with....ya like im going to let my 5yr old walk with someone else risking that he bolt off from the other kid, which is what he likes to do. One sec he's with you, the next sec he not.
