It is sad to see the two other comments about E.H. Cary as this was a great school in the 60s. Not doubting the comments, just look at the area. However, sad sad things and a sorry state of education being offered in inter-city schools.

I went to this middle school two years ago. Like many of the hispanics here I joined one of the gangs present in E.H. Cary. When I got jumped in southside 13, my life changed. I used to be a normal average kid, but then gang rumbles and gang fights changed me. Although I am still in the gang I wish I could get out...

When I went to this school back in my 7th grade year (1993-94) I was one of the only white children in the school. Metal detectors were normal for the school, gangs and violence were there as well. Regardless of being a minority I think this atmosphere was scary for any child. It was nothing to be sexually harrassed by many of the boys and cornered by many girls from gangs trying to either "jump" you or get you in their gang. It was a HORRIBLE experience and would hope that no parent would want their child in this type of enviroment.
