I am a grandparent; my grandson was attacked as a dare by three other students in the cafeteria; he tried to protect himself; witnesses stated he was indeed the victim of the attack and reacted in self-defense. Due to the District "no tolerance policy", he was suspended along with the other three students who attacked him. Rather than a strict across the board "no tolerance policy", each incident should be judged on its own circumstances. As it now stands, if a student is attacked he or she must allow the beating to take place regardless of the extent of the resulting injuries. The strict "no tolerance policy" comes for fear of monetary retaliation only. Shame on you!
