I hear you loud and clear if there was a choice I would move my kids today!!!I must say something good first the kindergarden program is wonderful I have known many of the kindergarden teachers for almost 15 years they are dedicated and work their butts off to get these kids ready!
I can not agree more about the over population. I am registering my 4th child in Kistler Kindergarden right now and the 5th next year.
10 years ago when my oldest attended K-6 it was a a nightmare for her.At around 23 kids a class and no class changes. They actually tried to force me to medicate my daughter because they could not handle hyperactive children due to class sizes!!!A TEACHER AND MR ANTHONY DIAGNOSED HER WITH ADHD NOT A DOCTOR! I refused and went to the school board after getting no where with the Anthony family that runs that school.
Now my son is in those same classes and the sizes have doubled. My son has 36 kids in his 4th grade class and has all of the same teachers my older daughter had. Not one teacher remembers her or the hell they put our family through. In my sons class of 36 there are several children who can not read or understand english, how are they learning anything?
In my daughters 2nd grade class there are kids who dont even know what their last names are, yet they are ignored and sent through. Some children might need to be "left behind" or given english as a second language more often.
The taxes in this district are higher than Philly the highest in the state and we have a lower population. There should be money for teachers and staff so that the children who can be successful get the attention they deserve, and the latch key kids get the education they deserve. Every day I hear about fights between the hispanic children and the rest of the school. Many of my sons closest friends are hispanic and because I am bilingual they do home work at my house so I have been teaching E.S.L. for free after school so his friends can get something resembeling an education. These kids are bright so smart they are learning English alone without assistance from the school (the only ESL teacher only speaks /mexican spanish, there are several types of spanish and most of these kids are Dominican or Pouterican)
Our bus has gone back to the school atleast 2 times a month due to fighting on the bus. Of course I am frantic when they are 20+ min late and I call the school to find out it was "JUST" another fight.how can they be so jaded they are small children there is no such thing as "just" a fight?
I can say with complete confidence that before this hispanic population boom in our area there were few fights in a year and they were delt with severe punishment now they are an everyday occurance and given a slap on the wrist.
We need more bilingual teachers so that these children arnt sitting in that building every day for no reason other than attendance. I told every child I know to blow off the pssa testing maybe we can get some more good teachers if no one gets their bonus this year!!

I Think the Teacher/ Student ratio is absurd. Myson is in fourth grade and there are 30 kids in his classroom. They change classes as they change subjects which makes dealing with the different styles each teacher has just overwhelming. I dont feel the principal takes the time to hear Parents concerns especially if it isn't stroking his ego as a "good guy". Its a shame. I need to find another school for my kids. ASAP
