I grew up spending my summers in Alva; I couldn't wait to attend that "school on the hill". My Mother attended there, plus others in the family. I went home the first summer of NWSC and missed the college life so much I never left again. The friendliness of the students and the teachers helpfulness made it a great place to study and learn. The college was "small" at 900+ students; the layout of the buildings made it quite easy to "run" class to class. I always had good assistance in finding a job. I had a variety of jobs on campus but mainly I attended on an NDEA loan (now non-existant). The Student Union was a great fun place for those of we "weekenders". My home was Sapulpa, OK so I didn't get to go home often. I graduated in January of l961 with a B.S.in Education and never regretted it! I retired after 30 years of teaching wonderful students from 4th to GED level.
