My child goes to the after school program and i have a few words to say about it. First of all they need to get older people in there to watch over the children. It is ok to have one or two of them but they really don't know what to do with children and don't care as much because they don't have children themselves when it comes to fairness and nutrition. Second of all they need to make sure that the children can eat when hungry and drink when they are thirsty and remind the children to drink when it is hot outside. Children sometimes don't drink when they should be and one day they are going to have a major problem on their hands. I like to send him there because of the convience and the price, because like many of us we can not afford other places and the other places don't bus the children so how would we get them there if we did have the money to send them elsewhere. The one good thing i can say about them is that in the summer (which is when my son goes) they have many field trips so the kids have something to do. Also the pool, they go there two times a week. I think they should go more, the children really enjoy it there, but they shouldn't leave so early in the morning because sometimes it is still chilly outside. Maybe if possible they could stay longer. I could go on with more stuff like when they are closed the days and we really need them to be open and the weeks we need them open but i guess the staff need holidays off also. But we depend on them especially teacher work days when they are closed, we still have to work, why can't they?

I have had children at Highland Elementry since it first opened and have seen it go down hill over the years. The teachers dont care about the children falling behind in class and always want to keep the failing child behind in the same grade because they cannot teach a child like they should, the class size is too big, almost 30 kids per class is too large to be able to pay attention to the child falling behind. That school is no good and needs to have all it's staff replaced with caring ones.I am transfering my child to another school after finding out that Highland Failed to make the No Child Left Behind grade for two years in a row. That is how bad the school is at teaching...they are no good.
