I can remember Mr. Hufford making an announcement on the PA that on that particular day there were no fights and congratulated us on such. Also, after school outside during the snow season a journalist waited for the students to take their pictures and commend them on their behavior. I remember Ruth and myself(Judi Cardona) throwing snowballs at each other. We were in the newspaper the next day. It was the greatest feeling to be recognized for using our recreational time innocently.

As a student way back in the early fifties.(graduated in 1953), I have fond memories of SJH. Our school colors were green and gold then, I don't know what they are today. Our principal then was Mr. Otis Guilfoyle. What a great staff of teachers we had. I specifically remember, Mr Birdsall, Mr. Arra, Mr. Shumskis, Mr. DiMicelli, Ms. Torrance, Mr. Hale, Mr. Kingsley, Mr. Schneider and Mr. Janotti. What a great Junior High and what a great time to be growing up in Newburgh. If there are any other classmates out there, I would really like to hear from you. Feel free to contact me via the posted e-mail. Al Contarino ajcontarino@verizon.net
