I agree with Francine. The principals within the school district seem to have the standard line, the children are our first priority. However, it becomes very clear that the principals do not want to rock the boat and want to stay in good standing with the superintendent and School Board. Tehy will defend their teachers to the end of the Earth

Our decision to move into this school district was based on the highly rated school system. Most of the teachers are great and they have lots of activities for the kids. Besides the usual subjects they have gym 2x per week, art and library to provide a well rounded curriculum. The lunch menu is healthy (only wheat bread and no whole milk with plenty of options. The PTA is welcoming and provides many opportunities for parents and children (Science Fair, Read-Ins, etc.).
Just hope you never have an issue with the school. The principal (Maureen Kelly) will politely dismiss your concerns. She follows the policy of cover your own a$$ but who doesn't these days? Issues that reflect poorly on the school will not be addressed and any attempts to change this (going to the school board, etc.) will be met with small town politics. To be fair, I think this goes on everywhere. Just know that Huntington is a closed group of people who have lived here for generations but are welcoming as long as you don't rock the boat.
