I am so sorry to hear that Kantner is closing its doors. I went there from the time I was in Kindergarten with Mrs. Butters in 1957 until I graduated from 6th grade with Mr. Richert as my teacher. I loved Mrs. Cox in 3rd grade, diminuative Miss Saul in 4th, feared my 5th grade teacher ...see even her name has been erased from my memory (her sister taught me in 2nd grade..Mrs. Walker...she was the nicer of the two!) I am a teacher myself now for 33 years. I think I had such wonderful memories of elementary school that I was naturally drawn to teaching elementary myself. Would love to hear from any others who attended Kantner in the 50's.

It is so sad that they want to close kantner school down, This a school with caring loving and sharing teachers, who's not there just for the pay. But more for the children who have attened and the ones who still attend. My granddaughter came out of there in 2005 a A student and a honor roll student. And I now have a 5 year old who attends and can read and spell. I hope the state think about all the educated children who been through these doors. And the ones who wish to also go through these doors. This is one of eastpointe's finest schools.
