I had the best times of my life at Western High School. Great Teachers, Great Friends and Great Memories. The people that criticize it probably put no effort or motivation in to obtaining an education, you only get out of it what you put in to it !

I love this school! It's one of the best schools in the Detroit school system. I graduated from Western International in 1993. My son is currently a 9th grade student at Western. My son started his high nschool experience in a well known D.P.S school that was supposed to be geared towards excellence, but to our surprise was nothing more than a war zone. My son was attacked physical by several students, which made me decide to put him in Western. My son's grades and attitude has changed drastically. Thank Western International Staff and Students.

I BELIEVE THAT THIS A GREAT SCHOOL. SOME BELIEVE ITS TO GHETTO, OTHERS MAY COMPLAIN THAT THE SCHOOL DOESN'T HAVE ENOUGH TEXT BOOKS. WHEN I GRADUATED I DIDN'T GO TO COLLEGE. I BECAME A MARINE. THIS SCHOOL GIVES THE STUDENTS WHAT THEY NEED TO SUCCEED IN SCHOOL AND GO ON TO COLLEGE. I MADE THE DECISION TO JOIN THE MILITARY. A LOT OF MY FRIENDS GRADUATED AND MADE IT ON TO COLLEGE AND NOW ARE GRADUATING FROM COLLEGE GOING ON TO MAKE IT IN LIFE IN WHAT EVER THEY MAY HAVE STUDIED. WESTERN HAS A GREAT JROTC PROGRAM. ITS NOT RECRUITING PROGRAM BUT IT DOES HELP STUDENTS AND OPEN THERE MINDS ABOUT DIFFERENT OPTIONS. ITS WHAT YOU TAKE FROM WESTERN AND USE, TEACHERS FROM WESTERN OPENED MY EYE AND SHOWED ME WHAT IS OUT THERE IN LIFE. TEACHERS LIKE MR. DIAZ, AND MS. GARCIA, MR. CASTRO, MRS. PRESIADO AND 1SGT BLANKENSHIP. BECAUSE I HAD TEACHERS LIKE THEM I AM NOT LIKE SOME OF THE GUYS THAT I USE TO HANG OUT WITH. I AM NOT STILL HANGING OUT DOING NOTHING WITH MY LIFE. I AM NOW A UNITED STATES MARINE. THESE TEACHERS HELP ME SEE THAT THERE MORE TO LIFE THEN HANGING OUT. THEY LEAD ME INTO BOOKS AND HELP ME GRADUATE FROM SCHOOL. THEY ARE AS WE WOULD SAY IN THE CORE "SEMPER FIDELIS".

First of all I want to let everyone know WIHS was that best that happened to me in my teens, there I met 2 teachers (Math) who changed my way of (critical) thinking, I have to give credit to them Mr. Mokdad and Mr. Castro, the knowledge taught from them has served me a lot in college, but I just can’t forget about the kind ladies, Mrs. Preciado and Mrs. Garcia, they also influenced a lot in my life. I really thank Mr. Castro for having dedicated so much of his time to run the chess club, most of the fun I had was found there. If I really could go back in time and choose any High School to attend to let me tell you I would gladly choose Western High again.
I probably could flood the whole page writing so many positive things about this school but writing is definitely not one of my assets, I keep Western deep in my heart, my above mentioned teachers, my moments of glory and my moments of anguish.

THIS SCHOOL IS SO GHETTO. I WENT THERE MY LAST YEAR AND CAME FROM A CHARTER SCHOOL. I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED THAT BECAUSE I HAD NO TEXTBOOK AND BECAUSE I DIDENT I FAILED MY MATH CLASS. I WAS PREGNANT AND WAS MADE WALK FROM FIRST TO THE THIRD FLOOR FOR CLASSES. ONE SIDE OF THE BUILDING TO THE OTHER. MY COUNSOLER GAVE ME CLASSES I DIDENT EVEN NEED I HAD TWO MATH CLASSES AND I HAD ALL MY CREDITS. THEY DIDNT EVEN KNOW I WAS ON THE HONOR ROLL AT MY PREVIOUS SCHOOL AND JUST ASSUMED I CAME TO MAKE TROUBLE. I HAD A 3.8 GPA ENTERING 12TH GRADE AND I HAD A 3.3 WHEN I GRADUATED. EVEN THOUGH THEY GAVE ME AN ELEVATOR KEY THE ELEVATOR WAS SLOW AND SOMETIMES WAS HELD UP AND MY TEACHERS BECAUSE I WAS LATE WOULD NOT EXCUSE ME AND THEY WOULDNT LET ME ENTER CLASS. I GRADUATED SUMMER SCHOOL AND THAT WAS ANOTHER STORY. TOO MANY COMPLAINTS. THE POINT IS THIS SCHOOL LACKS.

Overall, i liked the school. Having great teachers, friends, and so on. I miss everything about it. I guess having wanted to get out of school so quickly makes we want time to go back, just for those memorable moments. This school was a great place!

I'm a parent and I would like to recognize the secretaries that work so hard in the office especially the front office secretaries. They are so helpful and so caring. There is one that goes all the way for each and every person that walks in the office. I know that with the hard work of the secretaries the school is running smoothly. Continue your support secretaries we love you!!!!!

Our principal here at Western Int. is so great. The children always come first to her. A friend told me that one time Senora (Ms.) Luna was in the middle of a meeting but she really needen to talk to her about something, and she put the meeting on hold Just To TALK TO HER. If thats not a great principal, that I dont know what one is. This is my first year there, and all she has been is nice to me. TOO many kids,she is not our principal, she is like our friend. She is very understanding, and care about you, even if you are the worste student there.
