I attended what was the former 16 Acres School. All three of our children were students at the now Mary M. Walsh School. The school was renamed for Mary M. Walsh upon her retirement. She served as principal for 27 years. It was only fitting to rename the school in her name to pay tribute to a person who knew every child, their parents and what their occupations where. Mary Walsh was a mentor to every teacher under her principalship. The school was a neighborhood friendly school when I was a student there. Mary Walsh School remains a Family Friendly School with a staff better than any other.
I believe: A
school is successful when parents support their children in the educational process by reading on a regular basis, checking homework, and becoming engaged in school activities, Parent-Teacher Conferences as well as Open House nights.
I believe a school is successful when teachers can teach in environments where students are excited to learn and are engaged in learning.
I believe that schools are successful when teachers are well educated, mentored and supported to be outstanding educators.
Teachers at Walsh School are committed to provide children with academic success as well as the opportunity for children to become independently full of curiosity and wonder in the world we live in today and years past.
