When I was in seventh grade, I had an art teacher whose name I cannot recall. I was a puddle of low self-esteen at a time when no one worried about whether or not children cared about themselves. When we had dancing, and I was obviously going to once again, be the last one asked, he asked me to be his partner. He helped me with my art, always pointing out what I had done that was so special. For the first time in my life, I had hope that I was not always going to be the most awkward, big loser thatI saw myself to be. I will never forget his kindness even if I cannot remember his name. (Could you possibly check out his name? He taught for one year -- in 1957, I think. I would really appreciate it.) Something I never realized until I was older -- Sward School was a veritable cutting edge elemtary school in terms of the arts. I still am involved in music and art productions, an interest nurtured at Sward.
