I am a grandparent of a student graduating this year and I also had one graduate 2 years ago from your high school. I am totally abhorred about the varocious state your ONE HIGH SCHOOL is in. I'd be ashamed to say this was my high school, especially when it is the ONLY high school in Palatka. How long has it been since anything was fixed or updated on it? We come and sit in the heat of the sun or rain to watch the too looooonnnnngggg ceremony and really can't enjoy it because it is too hot, the families are crowded in too close and everyone is so loud you cannot hear what is going on. My grandchild will be an honor student graduating from there, so I am so very proud, but very disheartened to travel from Jacksonville and sit for this graduating class. I feel you are doing the students an "injustice" in not giving them a better facility in which to graduate from.
I am also TIRED of hearing, even from my grandchildren that Palatka is one of the poorest counties in Florida....well, how come? What's up with that? I think it is all in "priorities" and money management. I am glad none of my other grandchildren will be graduating or even attending this school. I have the greatest respect, and some sadness for the 2 that did.
Shame on you, Palatka.
