The University of the District of Columbia (UDC) is the only public university in Washington, DC. The School has a great law school, engineering school, nursing program, and business program. Under the UDC System of Schools is also the Community College. The campus is small but there is a lot to do in the area. Campus housing is available, but you must sign up early. The classroom environment is very competitive; you will be in classes with students from across American and from around the world. There are over 100 countries represented on campus; you will hear several different languages in the hallways and elevators. The faculty is very helpful and experienced. There are several clubs and greek life is a huge part of the campus. There are two libraries on campus and several computer labs. UDC is very focused on "green" and sustainability programs. There is an energy free building on campus that is operated by the School of Engineering. A new Student Center is scheduled for completion in 2012. UDC was great to me, I know that it will be great to you.
