One of my sons goes to Mira Vista, and we have been very happy about his progress. The only drawback is that they don't have other programs like chess, and music (very basic)in which other schools appear to be more organized. Teachers are generally responsive, the environment is great, its a beautiful school with a great view...

My grandchildren have been at Mira Vista for the past two years. Mrs. Brown Garcia is the most caring person I have ever had the pleasure to meet and know. She is tough when she has to be and kind also. She knows all the children by name and she knows all of the personalities that each child has.
The teachers go far beyond what they are required to do. My grandson Ryan was born with a brain anurism and water on his brain. Mrs. Brown Garcia and Mrs. Evans have made sure that Ryan has all that he needs to excel in school. He can now read, maybe not as well as the other children but he can read. He has PT, OT, Speech and PE. Ryan also has a computer in his classroom to help him.
Mrs. Evans has been a great help with Ryan in making sure that he is happy and is learning what he needs. Ryan's brother Bailey also receives help from the school also. Bailey has problems fitting in sometimes and between Mrs. Brown Garcia and Mrs. Evans both of my grandchildren have made great advances.
It is to my sadness to say that as of April 4, 2007, our family is moving to Sacramento, Ca and hopefully the school there can live up to the expectations. I believe that is will be hard for any school to be as great as Mira Vista.
I have never seen or heard Mrs. Brown Garcia be in a bad mood. Every morning after dropping the boys off, I hear "Good Morning, Mira Visat community" by Mrs. Brown Garcia. It is truely a community and everyone is treated like family.
My mother used to say it takes a village to raise a child and to me Mira Visa Elementary and Mrs. Brown Garcia and her staff are the community. Any child that goes to that school will be encouraged to be the best they can be. There is more help there then any child can need. All anyone has to do is ask for it.
As the old saying goes "Ask and you shall receive".
I believe the Contra Costa County School District could use this school as an example of how to run their schools and treat the children and the parents that are involved with that school.
Last but not least, God Bless Mira Vista Elementary School and the faculty and the staff for caring so much for the two boys that I love so dearly
