I was shocked and saddened to hear of the closing of SJ. I attended high school there from 1964 through 1966, then collage in 1968. My parents were school teachers in St Michael and Akiak. Since there were no high schools in those days, I was sent away to boarding school. The first two weeks were terrifing for a young girl but I soon came to love everything I discovered. My daughter is a cheerleader for this school and this principal would not let my daughter attend a game in Soldotna because she was 15 min. late for school. I am her father and I informed him that my daughter and myself were at the grocery store picking up some sports drinks and some food for her trip from Seward to Soldotna. Homestead Elementary is a great school I recommend it for anyone and the teachers and students are nice polite and they don't tolorate bullying it is a very safe school and it is wonderful place just fabulous it was one of my best memories the Library is wonderful and nice The playground is fun and can be for anyone man I'm telling you your child will love it here. They do fun little projects and stuff it's sooooo much fun
The playground is safe and fun. When I was there I always played on the monkeybars I still do whenever I'm there it's not the most sanitary but i don't care I clean them as often as I can soo I love there playground and still do it's fun and fun and fun the slide is fun the swing is fun I always loved the swings too I love to jump off them and fly through the air
The teachers at Homestead Elementary are great nice and altogether wonderful there fun and intelligent they teach you alot and I miss them dearly in loving memory of Mr. B. He was great and caring and loving guy I miss him soooo much it hurts I wish I could see him one more time I love him and all teachers there.
