Comprehensive site dedicated to crash safety

This site provides great information on safety; you can check out the results of the NHTSA's crash tests on many makes and models. Planning a trip is also included in this site.

You can search for an air charter by specific aircraft, by company name, or by location. This site also offers a forum for posting empty-leg availability, a discussion group, a journal, and industry news.

"Serving the nine million people and 322,00 companies involved in trucking," this site offers comprehensive information on all the divisions and associations within trucking. Industry and safety issues, trucking newsletter.

Click on a section of an auto graphic and get descriptive and function information, along with progression to a more detailed view and the option of choosing more points to learn about. It's interesting, although some parts, especially the animations, may be slow to load.

Autoshop-Online offers tips on car maintenance and repair, and answers general questions. However, if you would like YOUR question answered, they will do that (to the tune of $29.95) in their Service Department.

BTS offers a visual layout of its site, which is extensive and laden with data, but easy to use. Among the links are the excellent National Transportation Library and Geographic Information Services.

The popular automotive magazine's attempt to create "the most comprehensive source of automotive information available at one location" lives up to its mission, to "inform and entertain people who like cars."

Microsoft's online auto showcase offers you a lot: feature and dealer price information by model, auto show coverage, a numbers tool to help figure monthly payments, and a connection with Auto-By-Tel so you can submit a specific model request, have a dealer call you within 48 hours, and actually buy without going to the showroom.

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee includes information on transit research activities, curricula (some computer-aided), and professional training. Under "Other Stuff," they want you to see their moving bus.

"Dedicated to the railroad-loving public everywhere," this page is sponsored by Clara's Restaurants. Learn about national railroad clubs and trains, or click on an individual state for local information on museums, trains, model railroads, and more. You can also take impressive photo tours of Clara's restaurants, located in old train depots in Michigan.

The U.S. Census Bureau provides information here on commodity flows within the United States. Viewing, downloading, search available. Feedback encouraged.

Microsoft's travel site offers travel agent services, airfare tracking, travel news, weather information, and exchange rates. You can also get 250 destinations worth of pictures and information, trade travel tips, and take a 360 degree tour of the Kennedy Space Center. Not to be missed.

BIG site dedicated to air safety, commerce, and air traffic.

The FHWA site has information on transportation publications, legislation, internal organization, field offices, and training, as well as links to related sites.

This Official Site of the Formula SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) Mailing List offers lots of technical information.

This is technical transportation information, like "geo-spatial data depicting transportation, facilities, and flows," provided by this office of the Bureau of Transportation Statistics.
